Powertrain Integration designed the PIthonTM 8.0 liter propane autogas powered V8 to fill a huge gap in the medium-duty on-highway market. Rated at 339 HP with 495 lb-ft of torque, the PIthonTM is 50-state certified for over 14,000 lbs GVWR, and validated to 33,000 lbs GVWR. Teamed with Allison 2000 series transmissions and CleanFUEL USA LPI technology, the PIthonTM 8.0L V8 engine package is an unmatched combination.
Writing the next chapter in the legendary history of the GM big block has been a goal since learning GM was sunsetting the 8.1L engine, which Powertrain Integration successfully sold to the school bus market for years. Now after over four years of rigorous development and testing to OEM standards, the result is the PIthonTM 8.0L V8 LPI, the first of several new alternative fuel engines from PI.
PI engineers also journeyed far and wide, high and low to encounter temperature, climate, altitude, load, and grade extremes to ensure PIthonTM stands up to the rigors of heavy duty, real world use.
